llustration of a woman at her desk with completed spreadsheets and reports, as glowing ideas and Excel formulas sit sealed inside a corked bottle labeled "Assessment" floating above her head.

All That Horsepower, Nowhere to Go…

There is a particular kind of professional whiplash that hits when you are perfectly capable of doing the work—building the process, troubleshooting the spreadsheet, untangling a CRM workflow, reconciling the numbers, or figuring out why the automation suddenly decided it had free will.

Then someone says the word assessment.

And just like that, every piece of knowledge I have ever collected gets shoved into a bottle, corked tight, and set on a high shelf where I cannot reach it.

It is not that I do not know the answer. Most days, I spend my time solving real problems: making messy processes usable, turning scattered information into something a team can act on, and keeping the financial and operational side from wobbling off course. I work efficiently because real work gives you context, room to think, and a reason behind the question.

A timed assessment, though? Lord, have mercy. Suddenly “Does this Excel function even exist?” feels like being stuck mid-bridge at Spaghetti Junction, one large sweet tea deep, eyeing the empty cup—all that horsepower and nowhere to go.

That pressure opens a gap between what I know and what I can retrieve in a high-stakes, artificial moment. The work I am proudest of has never been about reciting an isolated answer on command. It has been about applying knowledge thoughtfully, solving the problem in front of me, and improving the process so the same mess does not come back for an encore.

So yes, I WILL seize up when the stopwatch starts. But hand me a real workflow, a tangled process, a financial report, or a CRM that has gotten a little too creative—and I let me get to work.

Because competence is not always flashy. Sometimes it looks like knowing where the bottleneck is, pulling out the cork, and getting things moving again.

If your team needs someone who can turn operational “we’ll figure it out” into a process people can actually follow— Let’s Connect.
